Encryption packages for DOS, Windows 3.xx, Windows 95/98/NT and Linux operating systems (Freeware for DOS, Windows 3.xx and Linux, Shareware for Windows 95/98/NT).

BestCrypt creates encrypted virtual disks or container files. You can then store data or programs within the encrypted container.

BestCrypt is also the home of BCWipe, a freeware wipe utility for Windows 95/98/NT.

ScramDisk

ScramDisk is a freeware encryption program similar to BestCrypt.

ScramDisk is a program that allows the creation and use of virtual encrypted drives. Basically, you create a container file on an existing hard drive which is created with a specific password. This container can then be mounted by the ScramDisk software which creates a new drive letter to represent the drive. The virtual drive can then only be accessed with the correct passphrase. Without the correct passphrase the files on the virtual drive are inaccessible.

Mixmaster - by Lance Cottrell

Mixfit - Mixmaster for Macintosh

At last, a Mixmaster client for Macintosh. The features and screen shots look good.

What was once released as the Mac Mixmaster Client has now been re-christened Mixfit. Unlike its brute port predecessor, Mixfit is a full standing MacOS application. You no longer have to format your Type2 remailer messages using awkward command lines. Mixfit now has the familiar MacOS interface with windows, menu commands, and dialog boxes.

The BCWipe utility is a shell extender for Windows 95/98/NT, intended to securely delete your files.

Burn   [Macintosh]

Burn 2.5 is a freeware wipe utility for Macintosh.

Files deleted by the Macintosh through the trash can are easily recovered using most disk utilities, including Norton and MacTools. Burn securely erases data in sensitive files by overwriting the data one or more times before the file is deleted.

Eraser   [Windows]

Eraser is an advanced security tool for Windows, which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.

The patterns used for overwriting are based on Peter Gutmann's paper "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" and they are selected to effectively remove the magnetic remnants from the hard disk.

Eraser is freeware.
